Why doesn't Minty ask for my national register number when I sign up?

European privacy law (GDPR) only allows us to collect a national register number or tax number when there is a legal reason for it. Browsing, buying or listing a few cards is not such a reason, so we never ask for it at sign-up. At registration we only ask for a username, e-mail address, name, date of birth and address.

When do I have to give my national register number?

Only once you sell actively. The European DAC7 rules oblige every marketplace to register a seller who reaches 30 sales in a calendar year or €2,000 in turnover. From the 30th card onwards Minty shows a one-time tax form; without it you cannot list a 31st card.

Which details does that tax form ask for?

Private sellers: full legal name, address, country and the tax identification number (in Belgium the national register number on the back of your ID card). Professional sellers: company name, business address and VAT number.

How safely is my tax number stored?

It is encrypted the moment you save it (AES-256-GCM) and can only be read back by Minty's own servers for the mandatory tax report. It is never shown to buyers, sellers or other members, and never appears in listings, invoices or e-mails.

What is the difference between a private and a professional seller?

A private seller sells from their own collection. A professional seller has a company name and VAT number, gets business invoices and falls under EU VAT reverse-charge rules for cross-border sales. You choose this yourself in Settings.

Which details do I need to complete before I can buy or sell?

To buy: a delivery address (name, street, postal code, city, country, phone). To sell: that same address, your tax details from 30 cards onwards and a payout account (IBAN + account holder). Your profile shows exactly what is still missing.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes. Privacy & Data in Settings lets you download everything Minty holds about you and request deletion of your account. Completed orders and tax records are kept as long as the law requires.

How does the scan allowance work?

Every scanned card takes one scan from your monthly allowance. A bulk/binder page counts as the cards on it (up to 16 per page). Your allowance resets at the start of each month.

Do I get scans back when I sell?

Yes. Every completed sale returns one scan to your monthly balance, capped at your plan's allowance. It is automatic — you don't have to claim anything.

What if my monthly scans run out?

You can buy a scan pack of 50 scans on the Plans page, or straight from the scanner when your balance hits zero. Purchased scans stay valid for 12 months and are only used after your monthly allowance is empty.

Yes, any time from the Plans page. Switching down keeps your collection and listings intact; only the plan features and commission change.

What can the scanner recognise?

Choose one of three modes before you shoot: Raw Single, Graded Slab or Binder/Bulk. Minty reads the card name, set, card number, language and finish, and matches it against the official catalogue for the current market price.

How does slab scanning work?

In Graded Slab mode Minty keeps your full photo, including the label, and reads the grading company (PSA, BGS, CGC…), the grade and the certificate number. Those fields are filled in for you automatically.

How does the bulk/binder scanner work?

Photograph a whole binder page as a 3×3 or 4×4 grid. The frame shows card-shaped boxes with spacing, just like a binder page, and every card is recognised at once. Pro and Elite only.

The scanner doesn't find my card. What now?

Accepted Answer

Shoot in even light on a plain background, fill the frame and avoid glare from sleeves. If recognition still fails, your photo is still sent through and you can fill in name, set and number yourself.

Which photos do I need to sell?

Cards of €20 or more need a real photo of the front through the scanner. Only graded slabs also need a photo of the back. Below €20 you can list with the official catalogue image.

Can I shoot photos with my phone while working on a computer?

Yes. The photo bridge gives you a link or code so you can shoot with your phone and the photos land straight in the listing you are working on.

Your payment is held by Minty until you confirm that the card arrived. Only then is the money paid out to the seller.

7 calendar days after payment. If the seller has not shipped by then, you can cancel the order yourself from My purchases and you get a full refund.

14 calendar days after the shipping date, unless you confirm receipt earlier or a report is open. An open report pauses the release until Minty support closes the case. Nothing is ever released before the seller has marked the order as shipped.

Open a report from My purchases with the Report a problem button. Minty support reviews the case and can refund you or release the payment to the seller.

A reserve price is the minimum the seller accepts — below it the card is not sold. A buy-now price lets a buyer end the auction immediately at that amount.

Pay within 48 hours. From there the order follows the normal buyer protection: 7 days to ship, release after your confirmation. Not paying results in a strike on your account.

Can I start an auction without the scanner?

Yes. Use the Place auction button to enter the card details yourself, including duration (1, 3, 5 or 7 days), start price and reserve.

Is my bid binding?

Yes. Every bid is a firm, irrevocable offer to buy at that amount. When the clock ends and any reserve is met, the sale is concluded between you and the seller.

Can a seller bid on their own auction?

No. Bidding on your own lot, directly or through a second account, family or friends, or inflating the price in any other way, is strictly forbidden and leads to suspension.

Do I have 14 days to change my mind?

Not for cards bought from another private member: consumer-to-consumer sales have no statutory right of withdrawal. Buying from a professional seller with a VAT number does give you the legal 14-day right. Subscriptions and scan packs are delivered immediately, so that right lapses once delivered.

How is a Minty auction different from an auction in a social media group?

In informal groups anyone can bid from an anonymous profile, including minors who cannot be held to a purchase, and non-payers are at most removed from the group. On Minty every bid is binding and linked to a verified account, a fair clock extends on last-minute bids, the winner gets a payment card with all details, auctions always ship with track & trace, and non-payers get strikes and are excluded from auctions.

During the beta the winner pays the seller directly. What does that mean?

For those auctions Minty is only the platform: there is no held payment, no buyer protection, no dispute handling and no Minty shipping label. You arrange payment, shipping and tracking with each other and carry the risk yourselves.

Yes, unlimited and free on every plan. You can track as many cards, sets and slabs as you like.

Can I mark a whole set as owned at once?

Yes. In a set folder, use Mark set as owned and choose Master set (every printing, including reverse holos and special foils) or Base set (one per card number). Then set the few cards you miss back to zero.

Only the printings that really exist for a card: normal, holofoil, reverse holofoil and special foils such as Poké Ball and Master Ball. Each finish is counted separately.
